The short version

CNC Dogbone Generator is a static website with a calculator that runs entirely in your browser. There are no accounts, no sign-in, and no file uploads. The shapes you type or paste are processed by JavaScript on your own device and are never transmitted to us, because there is no server of ours for them to be transmitted to.

What stays on your device

Pocket dimensions, bit diameter, relief style, per-corner toggles, and any SVG you paste are held in memory while the page is open. Two things persist between visits, both in your own browser storage and both removable by clearing site data:

• The URL fragment (the part after #) encodes your current settings so you can bookmark or share a configuration. Fragments are never sent to a web server by design.
• A single localStorage entry remembers whether you prefer millimetres or inches. It contains that one preference and nothing else — no identifier, no history.

Downloaded SVG and DXF files are generated in the browser and written straight to your download folder. No copy is kept.

What our hosting provider sees

The site is served as static files from a commercial hosting provider and its content delivery network. Like every web host, it records ordinary request logs: IP address, user agent string, requested URL, timestamp, and response size. These logs exist for security and reliability and are retained according to the provider’s own policy. We do not combine them with anything else and we do not attempt to identify visitors from them.

Fonts are served from the same origin as the site rather than a third-party font CDN, so rendering the page does not disclose your visit to an additional company.

Cookies, analytics, and advertising

At the time of this revision the site sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and shows no advertising. If any of that changes, this page will be updated before the change goes live and will name the vendor, the purpose, and the categories of data involved.

If advertising is introduced, third-party vendors including Google may use cookies to serve ads based on prior visits to this or other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to this site and other sites on the internet. You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of third-party vendor cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info. Visitors in the United Kingdom and the European Economic Area would be shown a Google-certified consent management platform before any advertising or measurement cookies are set, with a genuine option to refuse.

Legal basis and your rights

For visitors in the UK and EEA, the lawful basis for processing server log data is our legitimate interest in operating a secure and functioning website. Because we do not hold accounts or contact records, we normally have no personal data to give you access to, correct, or erase. If you have emailed us, that correspondence is personal data and you may ask us to delete it at any time.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority, which in the UK is the Information Commissioner’s Office.

Children

This site is a technical tool for machinists and woodworkers and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from them.
